Winemaker Notes
For generations the hillside vineyards of Sancerre have been home to some of the world’s greatest Sauvignon Blanc’s. Durand carries on these traditions by crafting classic Sancerre’s from this iconic region. This small wine district in central France overlooks the Loire Valley river which helps to temper this cool climate. The soils are a point of pride for Sancerre’s winegrowers. They are divided clearly into three main types: chalk, limestone-gravel and silex (flint). Durand is crafted from vineyard blocks on a mixture of soils to add complexity and depth to the final wine. The wines are made in a state-of-the-art winery with modern temperature controlled fermentation tanks and under careful supervision to guarantee the most expressive and consistently complex wines possible.
